So, I've seriously neglected this here page. I feel like a major disappointment to my audience (Tyler, I apologize). But, onto to more pressing matters...The Dark Knight! I'm not going to lie, I have been more excited for this movie than any other movie I can remember. Watching the trailers 30 times each and seeing that opening scene more times than I can count was tiding me over until I could actually see the movie itself. Then the day came, I head over to John's and as I am walking into his apt I look down and find a $10 bill, so I give John the 10 i found and 5 out of my wallet to pay for my IMAX experience and we are on our way. So, the opening scene hits and I am reciting lines with the masked vigilantes and then finally, the moment I had been waiting for...the rest of the movie, once the scene of the exterior of the police building is shown I am pumped, I turn to John and say, "it's really happening, the movie is continuing past the opening scene." John laughs and the most amazing, intense, jaw dropping spectacle of a movie is being shoved down my throat at a break neck pace, with only brief moments for me to take a sip from my oversized Mountain Dew or shove some peanut M&M's in my face. I could say Heath Ledger's Joker was amazing, but that would be a serious understatement...maybe, undeniably the greatest movie villain of all time is more fitting? He isn't merely an actor playing a character, he was the Joker cast to play the Joker. I don't think I have to say that Christian Bale was awesome, because we all know that was going to be the case no matter what, but Aaron Eckhart was a solid Harvey Dent/Two-Face and I think they did an awesome job of building up his character just to tear him apart in the last 30 minutes or so.
For 2 hrs and 30+ minutes this movie never drags or has you looking for the ending, it flows perfectly and is so well written and intricately woven that it will stand as the quintessential comic book movie that all future comic book movies are compared to...so basically all new comers have a lot to live up too. I don't think I have to sit here and tell you scene for scene what happens or what the cool parts are, i think $314 million in 2 weeks is a pretty good sign that most of you have seen it for yourselves. I'm not gonna lie, I saw it 4 times and I could easily go again right now and be just as happy as I was during my first viewing, and never have I been able to say or do that.
On a lighter note, my apt is clean and smells like apple cinnamon. I plan on paying more attention to my blog over the next few weeks, whether it be movies, TV, music, or just life in general...it's something for me to do and I don't really care who reads it, even though it's nice to get feedback every so often, so don't be a stranger. And, if you happen across this page and have no idea who I am, feel free to tune into my
radio show Thursday nights from 11 pm until 1 am. It's a free streaming show that is broadcast from Eastern CT State University (90.1) and I like to be listened to.
I think that may be it for now...go read Tyler's blog too.
